Oce Plan Center FAQ's
What is Oce Plan Center?
Océ Plan Center is a digital plan room system for managing print-ready construction drawings. It has two components: A software application used by reprographers to manage your files on their servers; and an online service which allows you to access your digital plan room using your Web browser.
What can I do once I log into my digital plan room ?
With assigned administrative rights, you can view drawings and zoom in on details. You can build different drawing sets, organize by discipline, enter sheet names and descriptions, and determine print sequence. You can publish drawings into a plan room from your desktop, and you can invite other users into your plan room. Finally, you can place online print orders to your Authorized Host, and generate utilization reports.
What is the value of using Océ Plan Center ?
Océ Plan Center offers you 24x7x365 secure access to your print-ready drawings online. It allows you to centralize the most current drawing sets so that you and your project team can view and order prints online from anywhere, anytime. It can help you reduce mistakes caused by working from outdated or inaccurate drawings.
How is Océ Plan Center different from other digital plan room solutions ?
Océ Plan Center is unique because American Reprographics maintains your digital files at our location, and you access your drawings via the Web. Océ Plan Center is licensed from Autodesk, the developer of the market-leading AutoCAD® software; and Océ is the developer of Océ Repro Desk , the market-leading reprographic print software. Therefore, Océ Plan Center users benefit from seamless integration and digital workflow from the design desktop to the digital print room.
How is Océ Plan Center different from collaboration solutions ?
A collaboration service is intended for storing and sharing files online in their native format during the design phase. The Océ Plan Center system stores print-ready files, making it ideal for managing and distributing finished drawing sets and legacy archives.
How do I migrate my existing files into my Océ Plan Center digital plan room?
American Reprographics can convert digital files or scan-to-file your entire archive for you. You can also publish your own files to your digital plan room via the Web using Océ Client Tools which you can download free.
Do I have to buy any hardware or software in order to use Océ Plan Center?
No. All you need is Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher and you're in business. You may also download free Océ Client Tools to automate the process of publishing files from your desktop to your Océ Plan Center digital plan room.
Who has access, and who controls access to my Océ Plan Center digital plan room?
Only you and your Authorized Host have access to your Océ Plan Center digital plan room. You may send out e-mail invitations and grant others access to specific subdirectories within your own plan room. You can also set user permissions to limit individual privileges within your plan room.
How can I get started using Océ Plan Center?
To get you started with your own plan room, all you have to do is send us your request by using our online digital plan room request form and we will take it from there. Once your plan room is ready, we will send you an invitation so you can start accessing your own plan room. For immediate request, you may call us at (301) 231-5200 or by sending us an email at print@amerepro.com.
Sometimes my system appears to hang when I upload large quantities of documents at once. Uploading large PDF files crash my browser. What could be wrong?
Uploading very large files or large quantities of files at once may cause your system appear to time out. Many factors could cause this: your operating system, connection speed, configuration, bandwidth, etc. If you experience frequent crashes or hangs, try uploading no more than 4MB at a time.
My thumbnails are not showing up or are partially rendering. My user list sometimes does not appear. Why does this happen?
You may be having trouble with your firewall or proxy server. Ask your system administrator to look at the proxy settings and ensure that they allow Océ Plan Center to function optimally.
I just installed Océ Client Tools, and no Océ Publisher button shows up when I open AutoCAD. Why?
Installing Océ Client Tools requires full administrator rights on your system. Re-install Océ Publishing Tools with full administrator access. It is sometimes necessary to invoke Océ Publisher once from AutoCAD as a user with full administrator rights to create the AutoCAD driver cache.
I am using Windows 2003 with Internet Explorer 6 and cannot download the CSV file containing my report data. Why?
Windows 2003 security settings are higher than for other Microsoft operating systems. The problem is documented in a Microsoft knowledge base article. Microsoft will address the problem in SP2 of Internet Explorer 6. For now, a workaround exists: In Internet Explorer, go to Tools->Internet Options->Advanced->Security tab and uncheck the "Do not save encrypted pages to disk" item. This setting is only on by default in Windows 2003.
Why does my system begin to slow down after processing hundreds of DWF files in Océ Publisher?
Under normal circumstances, Océ Publisher allocates system memory for its use and returns the memory to the system when it is no longer needed. This makes the memory available for other programs. When Océ Publisher processes a DWF file, there is a small amount of memory (about 16K) that it is unable to return to the system. After processing approximately many DWF files, this unreturned memory begins to add up and impact the ability to run programs quickly. The workaround for the current version of Océ Publisher is to reboot your computer after processing 100 DWF files. For systems with a substantial amount of memory, the need to reboot will be less often.
